As Director of Technology for Opus Creative I was in charge of rebuilding their Interactive department and breathing new life into a company that was at one time an Interactive powerhouse. Our goal was to maintain their current .NET skills and introduce a completely new toolkit of Open Source technology. I was responsible for managing the development teams and working with the account teams to pitch new business.

I managed everything from IHI’s load balanced dedicated server infrastructure at Rackspace to the onshore and offshore development teams of their core product offering, Engage Engine. I oversaw the product catalog that gathers and stores all of their product data, the web service that makes that data available, and the Business Intelligence / analytics reports that show how it’s being used. I also led our mobile initiatives and testing on mobile devices and tablets with HTML5, iOS and Android.

Phorium.net is an Open Source hosting business built to support the clients of Phorium and Moto Interactive. I built the company, starting with one Linux server at a colocation facility, and grew it into several dedicated servers at Rackspace Hosting. I sold the business in 2010.

I founded Moto with my partner in crime, Dru Martin (Creative Director). Together we built Moto from scratch and ran for 4 solid years with a team of 5. After my dreams of the .com boom were dashed with the .com bust, I re-formed Phorium in Portland – new city, new clients, new goals. In addition to web design and development, I branched into providing dedicated servers for hosting our clients, which grew into a solid hosting business. I then sold it in 2010.* Managed and maintained all Linux servers starting with a local colocation facility, eventually moving everything to a dedicated Rackspace datacenter.

Ah, the .com dream. I ran the marketing department and designed and built the website and all interactive / print materials for trade shows and presentations.

My first adventure into the world of the entrepreneur. I started Phorium to “change the world” in web design (back in the day when you could do so without a venture capitalist). I had enough in savings to last me 3 months, and the business boomed for 2 ½ years with a team of 3 full time and multiple contract employees.* Worked as a consultant for ad agencies bridging the gap between design and development.* Formed strategic alliances with agencies to be their custom development shop.
