Began career working for 11 years for various retailers in Germany and Denmark, as national purchasing manager. In 2000, Michael began working for IKEA South East Asia and from 2007-2009, he opened and managed the first IKEA store in Central Florida, USA. From 2009 to present, Michael has served in key leadership roles in IKEA Furniture and IKEA Food AB. He pioneered IKEA Food's pivot towards sustainable food and production, overseeing the launch of many sustainable food products, such as the veggie ball. Michael is actively engaged in the sustainability community, as a Champion of Champions 12.3, and member of the roundtable spearheaded by the Danish Minister for Environment and Food. Michael's passion for food and sustainability has resulted in many speeches, interviews and podcasts on the subject, including speeches at the UN and at the London School of Economics. Michael has extensive experience in purchasing, management of large international organisations, and organisational development.
