Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

As the Command Sergeant Major of JTF-Guantanamo, I was responsible for advising the commander, a Rear Admiral, on all matters integral to the success of the 2,000-member command. I trained and led service members from all five services, including the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, on all aspects of detainee operations, including support roles. I also led quality of life improvements for housing and morale services, along with performance recognition programs and off-duty education opportunities. Major accomplishments in this role include: * Fostered an environment of rigorous standards, integrity and accountability that ensured uninterrupted safe, humane and legal custody to detained enemy combatants * Counseled more than 2,350 personnel on professional expectations while stressing methods that were in place to protect personnel and the establishment * Shaped policy and directed improvements across the Joint Task Force that ultimately influenced the proficiency of ten subordinate units from four services, as well as numerous interagency partners

Fort Hood, Texas

As the Fort Hood Garrison Command Sergeant Major, I was responsible for the care, welfare and support of 5,400 personnel and 13,000 contractors in 15 different directorates charged with providing service and support operations to 389,000 Soldiers, Families, Civilians and Retirees, as well as security and Force Protection for the Army’s largest installation.I was responsible for recreation programs, public works construction and maintenance, training areas, shooting ranges and working with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department to protect endangered species. I managed the long-term area development plan as well the sustainment, restoration and maintenance of more than 6,300 buildings, totaling 35 million square feet, and 198,000 acres of maneuver and live fire training areas.I synchronized activities of 15 large organizations on the installation in an effort to provide common goals and end states for the installation. I also advised on the installation’s recycle program by developing and implementing initiatives that led cultural change of no trash going into our landfills. I served as an advisor for crisis action training to ensure all agencies were prepared in the event of a crisis.Major accomplishments in this role include: • Collaborated with senior business partners and local city managers daily, which ensured Fort Hood was actively involved in community relations • Managed an Emergency Relief Fund in the amount of $4,643,140 that provided support to more than 3,531 personnel in need • Developed an installation transportation system that leveraged existing resources and saved Fort Hood $170,000 • Revitalized Fort Hood’s Sponsorship Program and ensured 5,760 newly arrived personnel had sponsors • Redesigned the installation ground maintenance plan for more than 218,823 acres of land and facilities

701St Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

As the Command Sergeant Major for the 701st MP Battalion, I served as the principal advisor to the Battalion Commander pertaining to enlisted assignments, utilization, promotions, evaluations, incentives, standards of discipline and counseling. I was responsible for the health, welfare, training and evaluation of over 1,500 personnel, consisting of six subordinate companies. I oversaw the development and training plans for new MP recruits to the Army and ensured they were capable and well trained on Law Enforcement Operations, Convoy Security, Entry Control Points and U.S. Customs Operations, including personnel, baggage, cargo and vehicle inspections. I also managed the human resource department, ensuring the right experience and skills were matched to positions and levels of responsibility.Major accomplishments in this role include:* Led the first Army American Correctional Association Accreditation for the MP Correction School. Received recognition for being one of only three Institutions to ever received a 100% on all standards* Improved the quality of the 7 week Correction School by redesigning instructor responsibilities to cover gaps* Oversaw the training and job certification for more than 13,200 new recruits and 6,400 newly commissioned officers* Coordinated the implementation of a highly successful sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention campaign and training program for 1,871 personnel that created a climate of trust* Placed a strong emphasis on safety at the Military Working Dog School that led to zero injuries while training more than 360 dogs and 828 personnel

As the Sergeant Major for the DES, I oversaw 24-hour force protection, law enforcement, fire protection, physical security, access control, and community assistance for 54,000 people who lived on the military installation. I coordinated and monitored all aspects of law enforcement and special events on the installation. I was also responsible for the health, welfare, morale and professional development of 198 enlisted Soldiers and 160 Department of the Army Civilians. I advised the Director on the formulation of policies, training focus, administrative and legal actions in order to maintain good order and discipline. I enforced Army and local policies within the directorate and installation.Major accomplishments in this role include:* Developed and implemented an Active Shooter Training Program that prepared police officers to respond to incidents in a timely, safe and effective manner* Managed the Law Enforcement and Force Protection Programs that let to a safe community for more than 54,000 personnel * Enforced strict accountability of equipment valued at $3,000,000 without loss or damage
