The Purdue Rare Isotope Measurement Laboratory (PRIME Lab) is a dedicated research and user facility for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). AMS is an ultra-sensitive analytical technique for measuring long-lived radionuclides. Our mission is to provide measurements of long-lived radionuclides for researchers at Purdue University, at other universities, at national laboratories, and at agencies providing measurements of environmental levels of long-lived radionuclides in the U.S.PRIME Lab is a 24 hour operation in secure facility 4 stories underground where all of the experiments took place.In my role as an operator it was my responsibility to manage the systems that execute the experiments and collect data for analysis of several radioactive isotopes including 10Be, 14C, 26Al, 36Cl, 41Ca, 129I and others.

Fernandez Racing operated and ran racecars in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), Champ Car World Series, IndyCar Series, and Grand-Am Sports Car Series. During my time at Fernandez Racing we ran a car in ALMS.In my role as an engineering intern I helped to design upgrades and fixes to the existing chassis, systems for support during pit stops, and anything else to optimize racecar dynamics and performance. I traveled to various racetracks throughout the US and got to experience the behind the scenes work and planning that goes into running a high performance racecar.Some of my specific experience included:• Time spent analyzing suspension and chassis dynamics in a 6 point shaker rig• Designing and drawing components in Solidworks• Used Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fluid dynamics tools in Solidworks• Analyzed fuel strategy during race conditions• Programmed macros in VBA to quickly analyze lap timing and scoring data real-time• Managed several design projects and collected data to measure results

Chapman Lake Instrument is a manufacturer of surgical tools, aircraft and automotive parts, and other high quality and high precision manufactured parts.In my role as a technician I was responsible for:• Quality control and data analysis for the various production lines and processes• Operation of 6 CNC mills and lathes• Making the appropriate adjustments to ensure that manufacturing tolerances as tight as ± .0005” were met• Assisting in the creation of CAD drawings and specifying manufacturing tolerances• Helping the manufacturing team to maintain overall safety standards and meet ISO 9000 requirementsIn addition to those responsibilities I also had experience doing some simple TIG welding, measuring with optical comparators, micrometers, and other precision tools, grinding, polishing, sawing, and other direct and indirect functions in the manufacturing process.
