Dr. Michael Loadenthal serves as an Assistant Professor of Research with the Center for Cyber Strategy & Policy, School of Public & International Affairs, at the University of Cincinnati. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Peace and Justice Studies Association (Georgetown University), and the founding Director of the Prosecution Project. He has taught courses on political violence, social movements, gender, terrorism, research methods, and sociology at the Global Centre for Advanced Studies (2020-2023), Miami University (2016-2020), Georgetown University (2010-2021), George Mason University (2014-2016), University of Cincinnati (2015-2016), University of Malta (2015), Jessup Correctional Institution, and the Washington, DC jail system. Michael has served as the Dean's Fellow for George Mason's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (2011-2015), a Practitioner-In-Residence for Georgetown's Center for Social Justice (2015-2016), a Research Fellow at Hebrew Union College's Center for the Study of Ethics & Contemporary Moral Problems (2014-2017), and a non-resident fellow with the Global Network on Extremism & Technology (2020-present).Michael holds a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, and a master's degree in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism & Political Violence (University of St. Andrews, Scotland). In 2006 Michael received a dual BA in International Peace & Conflict Resolution and Women & Gender Studies (American University, Washington DC). In the past decade, Michael has published dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and given more than 200 conference presentations and workshops worldwide. He’s published 3 edited volumes, and a single-authored book, The Politics of Attack (Manchester University Press, 2017). His work has been published in a variety of venues including Studies in Conflict & Terrorism, Dynamics of Asymmetric Conflict, Critical Studies on Terrorism, Perspectives on Terrorism, Journal for the Study of Radicalism, Journal of Applied Security Research, Radical Criminology, Global Society, Genocide Studies and Prevention, Journal of Feminist Scholarship, and the Journal of Terrorism Research. In addition, Michael serves editorial and directorship roles for several projects including Contention: The Multidisciplinary Journal of Social Protest, and Interface: A Journal for and About Social Movements.He catalogs his work at michaelloadenthal.academia.edu
