About Michael Lomio
Michael Lomio's family has made San Jose their home for five generations. He graduated in 2011 from Valley Christian High School, and by 2015 earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California, Merced; one in economics and the other in political science.During his collegiate career, Michael held several internships. First he interned for the Students First Center at UC Merced, which is when he simultaneously interned for the Office of Congressman Jim Costa. He went on to support the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s Communications Team, and ended his final internship inside the Barack Obama White House’s Office of Digital Strategy.After college, Michael began working at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group as the organization’s Government Relations Associate. By December of 2016, he was promoted to Senior Associate and later lead the government relations team as its Director. At the Leadership Group, Michael oversaw and advised on all government relations efforts at the local, state, and federal levels of government. Michael joined the Office of San Jose City Councilmember Pam Foley in early 2019 where he works on land use, housing, cannabis, tobacco, and regional transportation policy items. He also served as Councilmember Foley's press secretary and communications lead. In his spare time, Michael serves as a Board Member of the Bay Area Municipal Elections Committee, which is a four-county lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender political action committee and is the former Chair and a current Commissioner on the Santa Clara Citizens’ Advisory Commission on Elections where he supports the expansion of voting rights throughout the County.
