I am a software developer with an extensive background in medical device sales. While the connections between these two fields may not be readily apparent, a love of growing and emergent technology underlies them both. My sales background fostered expertise in storytelling, mainly about new products; my software development has prepared me to tell a different type of story in a variety of programming languages.I left medical device sales because I no longer had passion for what I was selling. I was introduced to the growing number of free online coding resources by a friend in the industry. At this point I didn’t know the difference between frontend and backend. However, I soon found that my free-time was dominated by solving exercises on Codewars, or by watching my list of Free Code Camp accomplishments grow. As I progressed through free online resources I began to look at programming as a life skill rather than just a hobby. I discovered Chicago offered several bootcamp options, and decided that Actualize was the correct fit for my learning style. I look forward to applying my love for new technology and newly learned skills to write the next chapter in my career path source code.
