Developed subassemblies of an API-compliant prototype top drive for offshore oil rigs:• Reviewed oil rig survey drawings to determine equipment size requirements• Developed and patented a fully redundant oil seal to allow seal to last twice as long, which prevents 15 hours of oil rig downtime for seal replacement• Developed a conceptual electrical service loop system to be retrofitted to all legacy top drives to reduce single cable replacement times from 14 hours to 3 hours• Designed and detailed a machine guard and work platform system that complies with OSHA and ASME safety specifications• Modified and detailed a large gearbox assembly with lubrication system, drafted parts and assemblies per ASME Y14.5, created BOMs, and hand-built assembly in the manufacturing shop• Developed shipping skids that comply with ABS and DNV requirements• Engineered a hydraulic bail-tilt system for elevator lifting and position control• Designed testing equipment for estimating reciprocating seal service life• Created MathCAD programs for the calculation of design capabilities• Evaluated tolerance discrepancies from machine shops to determine design impact of manufacturing issues and proposed remedial actions2014 Events Committee Member:Organized facility events to improve employee engagement.2013 Voluntary Safety Team Leader:Managed a 33 person safety team that initiated a safety team project to assess the company’s level of compliance to implement an Environmental Management System per ISO 140012012 Voluntary Safety Project Manager:Voluntary manager overseeing a 28 person safety project that combined and improved corporate hand safety programs into an hour-long seminar to reduce the frequency of hand injuries as well as improve the company safety culture. It reached 380 domestic personnel and helped my team to be given the award of #1 office safety team of the year.
