From 2009 to 2011, I became Sr. Manager, Backup Recovery and Archiving (BuRA), Global Information Infrastructure Services team, managing group of 7 Administrators and Architects with responsibility for designing, building, supporting, and maintaining the overall health and performance of EMC’s BuRA infrastructure and solutions.• Devised and implemented 3-pronged backup and recovery approach in private cloud, including archiving inactive data, backing up same data once by Data Deduplication technology, and automating the real-time identification of problems for quicker resolution.• Reduced the amount of backup capacity required to store data by 49% as the amount of data protected increased by 85%, leading to backup times decreasing by 75% and infrastructure costs reducing by 70%. • Saved $1M annually, decreased data backup volumes by 95%, and nearly eliminated backup and recovery issues for 149 remote offices by deploying a centralized Data Deduplication backup solution.• Introduced self-service backup recovery capability to 48K desktop and laptop users.
