Found the process to be unique and the equipment available was not able to accurately measure the number of inorganics lost in the process.• Assisted with lab redesigns to improve operator safety and efficiency by implementing chemical hoods, drains, and improved chemical storage and labeling.• Collaborated with vendors and outside resources to find a solution to a scaling problem in the brownstock washers and evaporators. Put together a list of possible solutions to the problem that will be evaluated after my stay.• Learned the evaporation process in the powerhouse to create a WinGEMS model of the process. The model will help diagnose problems in the evaporators and concentrators as well as guiding the operators to what the ideal operation settings should be.

• Conducted a hyperlyft analysis on braincube to find what allows the machine to run at higher speeds without defects for a set period. Connected the performance of the machine to a vacuum pump on the wet end.• Performed a winder optimization project to increase the amount of footage on each roll without increasing the diameter of the roll. Collaborated with operators to find which settings have been run in the past and what suggestions they might have.• Concluded that increasing ending tension on the roll will have a significant increase in footage without causing the roll to telescope. The additional footage will save the company a vast amount of money in expenses.
