About Michael M David

I have researched and designed commercial database and query products for major database software vendors for over twenty five years. I am the author of two books on Advanced Standard SQL Dynamic Structured Data Modeling and Hierarchical Processing from Artech house. My relational processing discoveries have led to the development of the first semantic SQL processor; and Network Processing; that uses peer-to-peer collaboration; and navigationless schema-free hierarchical access processing for the database industry. This enables non technical users to finally have transparent access to XML data which allows them interactive processing of the entire hierarchical structure in a single query. This advanced structure-aware automatic full hierarchical processing dynamically increases the value of the queried data and insures correct hierarchical results. Specialties: My current interests are in SQL hierarchical/relational data integration. I designed the first ANSI SQL transparent XML interactive hierarchical processor, now available online for testing. This hierarchical processing supports powerful multipath queries made possible by its navigationless schema-free processing. My discovery of Lowest Common Ancestor (LCA) processing occurring naturally in SQL and its use was made during this project. It preserves and utilizes hierarchical meaning across multiple pathways occurring concurrently, supporting powerful network structures.

  • Advanced Data Access Technologies, Inc.
    Cto
Advanced Data Access Technologies, Inc. May 2001 - Present
R&D of the next generation SQL processor that naturally combines SQL and NoSQL technologies. Operating hierarchically, it solves the Relational/XML data integration problem and utilizes new hierarchical processing discovered occurring in relational processing. This supports powerful concurrent multipath hierarchical processing capabilities supporting powerful network processing. This is capable of relating every related node to each other. Powerful new SQL semantic hierarchical optimizations were developed supporting a new Semantic SQL. These capabilities are possible in standard ANSI SQL-92. The hierarchical optimization enables flexible global hierarchical SQL views which require no overhead. These are controlled by SQL's flexible variable SELECT list requiring no knowledge of the data structure. Dynamically selected output data fields also using the SQL SELECT operation control the processing and automatically formatted XML output. My discovery of inherent Lowest Common Ancestor (LCA) processing occurring naturally on multipath structures insures results are meaningful and correct by concurrently processing the multiple paths until the LCA is reached. All of these capabilities work together to allow the user to dynamically locate only desired documents and hierarchically process and collect only the desired data. Another discovery is new hierarchical data modeling allowing linking below the lower level structure's root to anywhere in lower structure which inherently and semantically works in ANSI SQL.
  • Ncr/Teradata
    Lead Xml Architect
    Ncr/Teradata May 2000 - Apr 2001
    Atlanta, Georgia, Us
Designed seamless XML support for Teradata commercial client/server SQL database system; member of the Teradata CTO Architecture Council; and their ANSI SQLX Group representative.
  • Compuaid
    Principal Product Designer
    Compuaid Oct 1991 - May 2000
Research and design of new and advanced database software: SQL transparancy product for major COBOL vendor; multimedia authoring product for DVD vendor; native XML support for a SQL Broker vendor; and wrote "Advanced ANSI SQL Data Modeling and Structure Processing", a book published by Artech House Publishers.
  • Teradata Corporation
    Staff Scientist
    Teradata Corporation Mar 1988 - Oct 1991
Architect of host software SQL utilities group for Teradata. Designed host side Multiload utility and its derivative utilities.
  • Sterling Software
    Senior Systems Software Designer
    Sterling Software Sep 1980 - Mar 1988
    San Jose, California, Us
Design and development of 4GL online heterogeneous products: Answer DB online immediate response hierarchical query product and Mark IV program generator which operates on multiple operating platforms (IBM's OS, TSO, CICS, IMS DC) and multiple database platforms (hierarchical IMS, structured VSAM, relational DB, flat files). Ad hoc operation utilized dynamic data access (IMS Segment Search Arguments built on the fly, VSAM control blocks built dynamically, and dynamic SQL) used to support immediate response to interactive query requests involving heterogeneous hierarchical data sources and their full multi-path optimized access to the dynamically derived virtual hierarchical structure. Started with company when it was Informatics Corp. and then Informatics General.
