As Corporate Safety Director, reported directly to the Chairman, President, and CEO. * Turned around company image through implementation of new corporate health and safety programs and management of regulatory compliance across Murray Energy Corporation and all of its affiliated companies. * Implemented behavioral-based safety and in-house auditing programs to effectively reduce the overall company incidence rate by 25%+ and to remove unwarrantable compliance issues across all mining operations.

Applied extensive background in mining as a consultant for major coal producers, mining industry law firms, and insurance companies. Consulting assignments included: Mine planning and systems review; production and safety systems audits with recommendations for continuous improvement programs; identification of viable reserves and oversight of exploration programs; budgetary financial audits; and expert services in bankruptcy litigation.* Co-authored the NI 43-101 for Phoenix Coal's IPO launch in the Canadian market. Specifically responsible for production/operations portion of the report, economic assumptions, and review of marketing, and transportation forecasts. Project work included the position of being the Qualified Person (QP) for reserves, and corporate reporting.* Completed production enhancements and systems analyses for Patriot Coal and the International Coal Group.* Directed and completed a comprehensive safety evaluation consulting project for Murray Energy following an unforeseeable mine disaster in 2007.

This notable research work led to the design and development of two new ventilation control devices for underground hard rock limestone, salt, and metal/non-metal producing mines in the US. * Co-authored and presented "Novel Stopping Designs for Large-Opening Metal/Nonmetal Mines," at the 2006 US/North American Ventilation Symposium. * Conducted additional research and served as an industry liaison in the development of new fire detection technology for underground coal mines.

Joined this coal production company at start-up; developed and executed a strategic business plan and capital budget which included comprehensive engineering, business and mine plans for initial company operation. * Coordinated central coal processing, marketing and shipping activities. Ramped up operations to full productivity in 5 months.* Implemented a proactive safety program which reduced the workforce incidence rate by 65% during the first 6 months of operation.

As General Manager of the White County Coal Corporation in Carmi, IL, Led a $31M operational expansion and mine extension project which included economic justification, permitting, and construction. Concurrently led the revitalization of the Mt. Vernon Coal Transfer Terminal on the Ohio River to generate an additional $500K in revenues. * In the area of mineral law, fostered lobbying efforts for the 2001 “Coal Rights Act” in the State of Illinois.* As Manager of Operations at Webster County Coal (1994 to 1997), managed a diverse multinational project team to assist Carbones del Caribe (CDC) mine design of the La Jagua coal mine, in Colombia, South America.* Promoted from Mechanic/Electrician to Production Foreman, Shift Foreman, and General Mine Foreman at Dotiki Mine, Webster County Coal, in Clay, KY (1980 to 1994).
