It is a robust response to an urgent need of our democracy. The multifaceted Banyan model is built on the sturdy foundation of consumer cooperative ownership, with readers owning local news co-ops the way shoppers own food co-ops and depositors own credit unions. The news co-ops are designed to be easily replicable from community to community, the way food co-ops and credit unions replicated from coast to coast.

SHI Labs was responsible for developing a diverse portfolio of IT-focused cloud computing and managed services. I provided UX/service design and GTM leadership as part of the senior R&D team, and in direct support of executive management. I focused on the design of the interactive experiences, service models, underlying business processes and customer experience frameworks that enabled a variety of cloud-based IT services. In this role I continuously managed multiple projects across teams in order to converge both business and technical requirements around specific product launch and release dates.

Part of a core team that developed a new managed services business unit for SHI from the ground up. As a team we successfully launched and monetized our initial IaaS cloud offering within 12 months. Responsibilities included business model development, product design and strategy, research and analysis, vendor relationships, program management, user experience design, product marketing and sales training/support.

Frequently facilitated planning sessions with executive management and cross-functional teams. Designed and oversaw the implementation MSFT Project Server, built SharePoint tools to manage internal P&L, project revenue recognition, bonus calculation for consultants, opportunity and project tracking, and funnels.

I founded SocialChord to be a provider of community-owned, digital utilities for local communities to collaborate in the civic process. We worked online and on the ground to nurture civic health and community engagement. Unfortunately, we ran out of seed capital at a time when investment in social enterprises was on hold during financial crisis, so despite early success in our pilot communities, we had to shut down the venture.
