After many years of practice, I reached a point in my career where I had handled virtually every type of matter directly or indirectly related to employment law. From lawsuits, investigations, and claims involving discrimination and EEOC charges to defending and challenging non-competes; from drafting policies, handbooks, and agreements to conducting employee training; or from negotiating and arbitrating collective bargaining and labor disputes to navigating unemployment tax matters — I’d seen and done it all. I found my employment practice to be ever-changing, never boring, and highly enjoyable. My favorite part of this job was problem solving. My clients knew that I was only a phone call or email away, day or night—ready to help them with important and sometimes urgent decisions related to their employees. My experience allowed me to answer most questions quickly and pragmatically. I told my clients, I would rather anticipate possible red flags in an imminent employment decision rather than pick up the pieces afterwards and this aspect of my practice allowed me to do just that.
