DSATCOM: Program provides immediate secure/non-secure voice comm and data access via satellite from mobile forces, procures systems for “open the airbase” deployed forces at bare base locations, and primary acquisition support vehicle for AMC Mobile C2 and Contingency Response Group (CRG) operations. MILSATCOM: Program provides O&M support for military owned and operated terminals and programs (SCAMP GEMS, GMT, GBS, PSC-5, MILSTAR) in the AMC inventory.

Led 62 personnel to ensure 24/7 availability of all wide/local area network services including 127 long-haul circuits and 2,000 LAN connections in 107 buildings on a $9.6M network supporting 1,900 customers w/2,300 organizational and individual E-mail accounts and 210 classified accounts. Developed and implemented network policies for classified and unclassified local and long-haul network connectivity, Internet and Intranet service, defense messaging and commercial e-mail. Managed Network Operations, Network Management, Network Support, and ensured oversight and accountability of the Wing’s $6.1M of Automated Data Processing Equipment. Managed Wing Information Assurance office overseeing the Communications Security, Emissions Security, Computer Security, Information Assurance Assessment Programs.

In addition to the normal correspondence and office management functions, the transformation of the Logistics Group (4 Squadrons) and the Support Group (5 Squadrons) to the Mission Support Group (7 Squadrons) was a significant achievement during this period. This realignment of command structure was in direct support of Lajes Field’s execution of the Unified Command Plan affecting 2 groups, 9 squadrons, and 5 tenant units.

Coordinated/implemented changes necessary for the AFY2K certification process for 17 CMC mission systems (8 critical, and 9 non-critical) that directly support the full capability of the ITW/AA. Setup Contingency plans for crisis management teams to use during various date transitions. Performed technical monitoring of hardware and software Y2K unit testing conducted by Lockheed Martin.
