Principal Investigator Spearheading Innovative Ai Projects Worth Over $100K Ai For Ant-Corruption
CurrentProject Summary:• Challenge Addressed: The project targets the widespread corruption issue in the global south counties, especially in the tendering process and project follow-up stages. These stages are critical for nation-building but are plagued by fraud, bribery, and misallocation of resources, leading to subpar work quality and non-compliance with initial plans.• Objective: The primary aim is to implement robust tracking systems spanning from the tender process award phase to project follow-up. This will combat corruption, ensure the selection of deserving bidders, and guarantee high-quality work delivery.• AI and ML Implementation: The project plans to utilize advancements in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predicting and detecting patterns of corruption. It involves using sentiment analysis and other AI techniques to analyze tender documents, identify irregularities, and provide a corruption index and other output, such as building the case for combating. This proactive approach enables the anti-corruption and other entities to combat corruption effectively.• Data Collection and Model Development: A significant part of the project involves collecting data from previous tender processes and developing efficient data pre-processing methods for fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs). The focus is creating ML/AI models designed explicitly for corruption detection in tendering and project follow-up using open-source foundation models.• Outcomes and Impact: The project aims to increase transparency in the tendering process, reduce corruption levels, and enhance the efficiency of project follow-up. This endeavor is expected to contribute to sustainable socio-economic growth in Tanzania and could serve as a model for other African nations.
