• Dr. Battista and I worked together to investigate topics in fluid dynamics using high-performance computer (HPC) simulations• Studied the fluid dynamics and simple harmonic motion mechanics of a pendulum immersed in a fluid medium• Investigated these topics by observing attributes of the body and the fluid, such as a vector field showing fluid direction and velocity, and simulation parameters such as viscosity, flow, and toroidal phenomena• Ran simulations of these phenomena and rendered them using data visualization software• Performed numerical and observational analyses on the simulations by cleaning and plotting data• Results published in the international, peer-reviewed Fluids journal• Gave me an introduction to undergraduate research and enjoyed gaining experience in Applied Math research in addition to Computer Science research
