I worked in the Acoustics Research Department in the Information Principles Laboratory on a project called HuMaNet - the human-machine network. My part of the project was developing a hypertext index server in C++ to interface with the main multimedia database. The goal of the project was to develop a Web browser combining perceptual coding, voice recognition and media compression (at the time leading technologies for the lab) into a browsing system that did not require either a keyboard or a mouse.I honed my bocce ball and Killer Crayon skills and learned about AT&T's next generation operating system Plan 9.
