Worked for two summers and two winters performing various construction tasks under the tutelage of experienced roofers and carpenters. As a roofer I learned how to install and tear down roofing materials, siding, and gutters. Working as a carpenter I learned how to frame walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, decks, etc. I also received extensive experience with reinforced concrete by constructing form works and pouring concrete.I producing fire-safety drawings for the 6 building site of Fibre Drum Sales to comply with State Fire Code.

I work in the Chicago Sun Times plant. I make sure all the drivers have laborers assigned to them from United Temps. I supervise 60+ people a night. I assign them to routes, working on the docks, relays, etc.

Acted as a substitute teacher for math classes like algebra, geometry, and calculus. Also worked with the tutoring program and assisted in helping students failing a class to work on their homework. I was also in charge of the Math portion of the ACT Prep class.

Educate fraternity men about the issues of men's violence, sexism, homophobia, racism, and other social issues...

The First Year Campus Acquaintance Rape Education program is run by the Office of Women's Programs. It is a mandatory workshop for all first year students at UIUC. As a facilitator, I was trained and employed by the university.I led discussions to first year students about sexual assault and supporting a survivor of sexual violence. I often had to manage a room of up to 80 people two to three times a week and discuss sensitive issues objectively. I learned that to create an environment conducive to learning involved knowledge of the subject matter, energy, comfort, and confidentiality. These workshops equipped me with great confidence in my public speaking abilities and proved that I can discuss any topic in any setting.

I was a longtime leader of the undergraduate chapter of Phi Chapter. As President, I was a bonded officer and was legally responsible for all brothers of the fraternity and guests visiting the house. I also was the key liaison between the chapter and both the University and International Sigma Pi.I was largely responsible for the growth of the membership for the four years I was an undergraduate at the university. I joined a house of 29 and graduated one of 55. As president I spent many hours organizing the 100th anniversary celebration with our alumni. It was a huge success and as the person in charge of the undergraduate chapter, I acted as host to nearly 300 guests at a banquet and at the fraternity house.With the help of other key leaders, I led the fraternity to 5 awards at the 2008 Biennial Convocation including the 800 Point Efficiency Club, Top ACE Project [Sigma Pi's Hands Off Campaign], and Finalist for the Grand Sage's Cup [top chapter honors].I also received individual honors from international chapter and the university:-Michael P Carey Leadership Award- given to the undergraduate brother who demonstrates the highest levels of leadership in the entire country-Senior Honorary 100- Top 100 graduating seniors chosen by the Alumni Association of the University of Illinois.-Finalist for "Greek Man of the Year" UIUC, 2009

Attended the University of Illinois for four years. During this time I grew as an architectural student and as a person. I was actively involved in my fraternity, Sigma Pi, and other campus organizations such as Men Against Sexual Violence, Conversation Partners, and the Fraternity Peer Rape Education Program.I earned good grades and was awarded with many awards and nominations from the School of Architecture, the university, Sigma Pi International, and Phi chapter of Sigma Pi.I look back on my time at UIUC with great fondness as a time of considerable learning and personal growth.

I was very lucky to have the opportunity right out of high school to work for GCA. I met Patrick Callahan, Principal, and he decided to bring me on staff in the Rolling Meadows office.As an intern, I gained a great amount of experience in an office setting. I spent time reorganizing the storage space which included old drawings, bids, client correspondence, legal documents, etc. I priced storage shelves and came up with a few options for the design of the new space. I then built the shelves and organized the documents and drawings. I also worked on editing construction documents with AutoCAD and Revit modeling programs. I worked on various school and municipality projects as well as some corporate ones like TGI Fridays. I conducted site analysis and met with project and construction personnel on site visits. I also surveyed life-safety work by conducting field verifications on existing drawings.In my last summer, I worked almost exclusively on one school district that included a new HVAC system for four elementary schools, remodeling of a high school, and potential demolition/rebuilding of a middle school. I worked with a mentor and another intern coming up with design proposals, building models, conducting site measurements, and meeting with school board members. My time at GCA was great for the development of a young architectural student.
