This project had me overseeing the safety for the construction of 5 camps; 180km haul road, Port facilities, 10 bridges, conveyer belt systems, screen houses, crushing plant and a private air strip. This project contractors trades consisted of steel fixers, carpenters, mobile plant operators, drilling, blasting, chefs, cleaners, truck drivers, riggers, cranes, scaffolders, road sealing, concreters, fitters, mechanics, boilermakers, plumbers and electricians.

This project was the construction of a magnetite concentrator, 450 Megawatt combined cycle gas fired power station, a 51 gigalitre desalination plant and a new port facility. My role on this project was to provide safety support for the scaffolders onsite, provide training, tool box talks, VOC, inspecting scaffolds weekly, ensuring all scaffolds were built to AN/Z standards and safe for contractors to use.

This role had me working in the scaffold yard learning the equipment & how a scaffold yard operates. I later moved onto the tools assisting were I could passing gear, stacking it & eventually erecting my own scaffolds. The scaffolds consisted of tube & fit, quick staged and alloy mobile scaffolds. There was a lot of work involving confine space, working at heights, cranes and around hazards chemicals.
