I'm an ASIS board certified Physical Security Professional operating as a security consultant, engineer, and project manager that believes in the holistic approach to creating safer and more secure environments. I believe that the efficient application of any technology starts with understanding the operational goals of the owner and a thoughtful approach at the architectural and environmental design levels. I strive to deliver system designs and masterplans that complement the functions of the built environment and contribute to my client’s business goals. My experience spans the critical facilities, healthcare, education, corporate, aviation, hospitality, and government sectors. My management experience has included overseeing regional operations, from client relations to business development and project execution, for a security and technology consulting firms. I have also been responsible for defining and expanding the Security Consulting offerings beyond engineering and towards a more comprehensive set of services such as security master planning, risk assessments, business continuity, policy/procedure writing, and training. Having worked with many of the leading architectural firms and directly with end-users, I have developed a great understanding of how to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and assist my clients in championing technology initiatives through internal hurdles. Given this experience, I have developed the skills needed to turn operational requirements into technology system requirements and communicate them to stakeholders and construction teams. I have presented at national conferences and led collaborative workshops on implementing a holistic approach towards security as well as best practices for designing security systems. I have ample experience implementing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and the technology systems I have designed include video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, wayfinding, gunshot detection, and mass notification among others. I have been involved in projects from high level master planning, assessment, and feasibility studies all the way through full system design and construction administration. On a personal note, I'm a second-degree Taekwondo black belt, hike and camp often without leaving my pet husky behind, and enjoy writing. I am an avid researcher in the fields of robotics, mobile technology, and electronics and am eager to contribute to the advancement of technological discoveries and integration.
