I was in post during a time of significant change for the Fire Rescue Service as a Combined Fire Authority was being sought between Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (now completed); this included requirements to implement shadow authority boards and enhanced legal and political awareness.Key roles included:To ensure the efficient and effective corporate governance is in place for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (internally) and Hampshire afire and Rescue Authority (externally).Manage and build relationships, engagement, counsel and influence of senior stakeholders and external dignitaries including elected Councillors.Monitor and manage contracted corporate governance expenditure including Legal Services and Local Democratic Services Team.Support and deputise for the Governance and Compliance Manager.Strategic insight, horizon scanning and political awareness. This included awareness of internal and external developments which could have influenced and impacted the Fire and Rescue Service/Authority.Monitoring anti-theft, fraud and corruption business tools, management of the governance framework and annual governance statement.
