I have more than 20 years' experience in campaigns, member engagement, communications, and creative production (journalism, photography, and design), mainly in not-for-profit and cause-driven organisations. I plan and implement campaigns that succeed through meticulous research and data analysis. For the last five years, as Senior State Organiser for the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), I transformed how staff and elected officials interact with members and expanded engagement channels. I also boosted recruitment, campaign effectiveness, member satisfaction, and participation, ultimately helping members achieve their goals. From 2014 to 2019, as State Campaign Officer for the Queensland Council of Unions (QCU), I managed state-wide campaigns involving up to 26 affiliate unions, overseeing operations and communications for three state and two federal elections. I also led campaigns like 'Protect Weekend Rates' and 'Union Pride'. I am an experienced manager, having overseen teams of five to seven Branch Organisers at the NTEU. I enjoy managing teams, providing resources for autonomy, and leveraging individual strengths. I’ve also mentored larger teams of volunteers and activists, focusing on training them to operate independently. When challenging conversations or active management are needed, I address matters promptly to prevent escalation. I have a deep understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, with experience managing databases ranging from small organisations to large political campaigns with over 100,000 entries. Effective CRM use, based on consistent data collection and analysis, is key to developing engagement and recruitment strategies. Since August 2023, I’ve been a member of the Committee of Management for Metro Community Hub and became Secretary of the Board in October 2024. I also served as the inaugural President of the Rotary Club of Brisbane South-East, where I drafted the club’s constitution. My diverse work experience gives me a unique perspective on problem-solving. I approach challenges with an open mind, often asking, "Why not?" or suggesting, "Let's try it and see what we learn."
