At RSI, the Principal Consultant is both a technology leader and a team leader within a specific software development practice. In my role as a Principal Consultant within the RSI Java practice, I have taken on additional leadership responsibilities over and above my duties as a senior developer. These include an expectation to act as a mentor and coach for more junior Java developers. Principal Consultants also work closely with our clients IT staff to deliver software and services that advance our customer's business goals. In addition, Principal Consultants provide feedback and advice to RSI leadership about technical direction within our practice.

From January 1998 to October 2013, I held several positions within Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM) and Avnet Global Information Solutions (GIS). Avnet Electronics Marketing is the largest operating division of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a global Fortune 200 electronics distributor with annual sales in FY2013 of approximately $26 Billion. Throughout my career at Avnet, I was a member of the EM e-Commerce team which is responsible for the company's online store (currently AvnetExpress.avnet.com). For the past 12 years, I was a full-time telecommuter, and I still managed to advance in the organization. During this time, I was directly involved in virtually every aspect of this large commerce site, including storefront planning, catalog organization, store set up, infrastructure planning, data mapping and provision, security, payment, pricing strategy, contract implementation and special pricing, discounts and promotions, and internationalization.
