About Michael Perretta

I am a VFX Artist with over 12 years of experience in the video game industry. As a VFX Artist at Bethesda Game Studios, I am responsible for creating compelling and performant visual effects for Bethesda’s primary franchises, such as the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. Leveraging my prior experience as the Lead VFX Artist at Telltale Games, I create effects for key cinematic moments and end-game content. I also work with engineers to build new systems for the VFX team, as well as improve existing ones.As the Lead VFX Artist at Telltale Games, I was responsible for managing a team which worked on multiple concurrent projects. I succeeded in consistently meeting tight deadlines by managed both my team’s resources, the expectations of each game’s production team, and meeting each project’s art director’s expectations. I was often at the forefront of developing and improving production practices which were later adopted by other departments. This included adopting the use of new task tracking software such as Jira, tracking work vs. resources more accurately, and strategically adjusting key milestones in the VFX schedule to meet existing deadlines.I started in the game industry and at Telltale as a Character Rigger and Tech Artist, which included writing and maintaining several art tools. This included scripts for rigging, modeling, and animation within Maya. Between this and my prior experience as a web designer, I also worked effectively with engineers to help build and improve studio tools, increasing their ease of use and thus team efficiency.
