InvenTrust Properties (formerly Inland American Real Estate Trust) is a $3.5 billion REIT focused on grocery-anchored shopping centers. At its peak in 2012, the organization was a $13 billion REIT with 794 retail, office, industrial, prison, and charter school properties; 5,311 apartment units; 5,212 student housing beds; 16,345 hotel rooms; a $500+ million marketable securities portfolio; and joint venture investments supporting in excess of $8 billion of real estate.As Inland American was rebranded to InvenTrust and became a self-managed REIT, rapidly promoted to steer the company through a significant transition in organizational focus and culture. Reporting to President and CEO, oversaw investment functions, finance, accounting, and IT to support business priorities. ➤ Installed the business infrastructure to support transition from a diversified REIT with investments in hotels, student housing, and retail to a pure-play multi-tenant retail platform.➤ Built multi-tenant retail transaction group from the ground up and defined a strategy around grocery-anchored shopping centers in the Sun Belt.➤ Established and chaired Investment Committee (IC) to bring rigor and discipline to acquisition, disposition, financing, and development transactions.➤ Oversaw $15 billion of transactions to maximize the portfolio value. Led $2.3 billion of acquisitions and dispositions of multi-tenant retail properties, $3.6 billion spin-off of hotel portfolio, including NYSE listing of the full-service hotel business, and sale of $1.4 billion student housing platform.➤ Positioned the business for a liquidity event and improved credit pricing by directing the deleveraging of the balance sheet and shifting business financing from primarily secured mortgages to more portfolio financing. ➤ As a member of the IT Steering Committee, partnered with CTO to define the technology strategy, fill operational gaps, improve decision making, and enable the business.

Orchestrated $2.3 billion all-cash net lease portfolio sale to the sponsor, negotiated $471 million JV restructuring, and managed sale of net lease fund to JV partner in a $480 million transaction.➤ Led formation of $600 million institutional joint venture relationship with Dutch pension fund PGGM.
