About Michael Prieler

I am a tenured professor at the Media School at Hallym University (South Korea) and the Director of the Graduate Program in Media and Communication. Most of my research projects have focused on advertising, health communication, new media, and diversity in the media (particularly on gender, race/ethnicity, and age). I have published extensively in numerous international journals and books in these areas. I am ranked in the top 0.66% of advertising scholars worldwide (ScholarGPS.com) and among the top three scholars in gender in advertising over the past 50 years (Adali et al., 2024). In recognition of my exceptional achievements as an educator and researcher, I have been honored with the Best Teacher Award and the Distinguished Professor Award.Expertise: Advertising. DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion). Digital Marketing. Health communication. Cross-cultural communication. New media. Diversity in the media (particularly representations of gender, race/ethnicity, and age). Comparative media and communication studies. Content analysis. East Asian societies.
