Associate

Timothy Seow Architects - Singapore

Worked on a number of projects, the first, was a 12 Storey office extension to an existing 18 Storey hotel & shopping centre. This was a very complex project due to the fact that the new extension sits on top of the existing podium block (this was a first in Singapore). In addition, I also led 3 individual luxury high rise condominium projects, the first Taman Warna, a 4 storey development, was in the final submission stage to the local authorities. The second was an 8 block development with central communal facilities called Cascadia. This development was due to commence superstructure in early 1999. The third, Draycott, was the highest at 28 storeys and was due to go out to tender in April 1999. These are 3 projects from the biggest developers in Asia, Wing Tie, Kuok Bros. and Hong Leong. Cairnhill Condominium, is another interesting project with which I was involved. This was a 20-storey development that included liasing with an American architectural practise; Polshek & Partners based in New York. As the primary figure in these prestigious projects, my role began with co-ordinating extensively with high profile clients, consultants, local authorities, as well as our own in-house staff and ended with running the projects on site. Project Architect

Cdg International - Singapore

After relocating to Singapore in June, I began working for the company, CDG International, in the position of Project Architect. The first major project that came under my wing was a 33 storey mixed use development in Johur Bahru, Malaysia. This comprised of an office tower with a mixed-use podium, consisting of retail units, restaurants and a two-tier cinema complex. As project architect/manager I held a central role in the project, liasing with clients & consultants, designing, co-ordinating and supervising all production information / staff and conducting tender interviews. In addition to this project, I was also involved in the concept/master planning of various other projects, including a mixed-use development in Jakarta, Indonesia. The brief for this project was to provide a condominium, hotel/service apartment complex with a retail centre on the lower levels. Reference: World Architecture, Issue No. 56 May 1997

Jun 1996 - Mar 1997

Architect

Architekturbuero Roehm - Germany

In September 1992 having completed my Diploma in Architecture, I was invited to Germany where I accepted a position in the new Architekturbüro Röhm in Leipzig. During this time I was a Project leader for many schemes (20 in total). These were mainly mixed use developments (encompassing residential, leisure and commercial uses), hotels, a town hall and even an embassy. I was deeply involved in all aspects of the architectural profession, my role in these projects ranged from design inception through to the handing over of completed buildings. This included client liaison, feasibility studies, costing, scheme design (models & presentation drawings), working drawings, detail design, specifications, tendering action and project planning (site management & co-ordination). This particularly interesting time in the history of Germany has enabled me to expand my experience and ability as well as offering an exiting challenge in the field of Architecture. This was reflected in some cases with the design and reconstruction of the infrastructure of towns and small cities.

Sep 1992 - Jun 1996

Architect

Leslie Jones Architects - London

After successfully completing my degree in architecture, I returned to London and began employment with Leslie Jones Architects. The first project I became involved in was a fast track fit-out of a new computer building in the highly publicised Stockley Park development. This scheme had several interesting aspects such as liasing with the client and the management team, interviewing prospective contractors, site supervision and also the compiling and reproduction of working and presentation drawings in 3-D model forms. When my involvement with the Stockley Park scheme ended, I then participated in the design and subsequent planning application for several shopping centres, the largest of which in terms of personal involvement was a development in Sutton Coldfield. This was a £28 M Shopping Centre development designated for the centre of Sutton Coldfield, its scale and proximity to the towns centre created a challenging scenario for us in the design team.
