A chandelier and fine lighting companyDesign - My design responsibilities included line drawn concepts for initial client meetings and then developing into CAD drawings for sign off. I then further developed the concepts and organised bill of materials and documents for the workshop to follow. I was also responsible for the instruction and supervision of an apprentice in the Design Department.Production - My role included the production and sourcing of materials and components and communicating with external suppliers to manage multiple projects and deadlines. I was responsible for delegating the team's jobs for the day and managed everyone's time effectively to ensure the completion of each project within deadlines. Manufacturing - Using my previous experience and skills in manufacturing products from varied materials, I was the designer/maker and solely responsible for the manufacturing process. Later, as the company grew, I supported the workshop staff with manufacturing and production problems, often hands on. I was responsible for finding suitable solutions, technical as well as electrical, to issues which arose both in house and with external contractors and suppliers. Installation - I was the senior member of staff on site during installations. It was my responsibility to ensure work was carried out efficiently with the contractors on site and ensuring my team worked in a safe and competent manner. I oversaw the use of appropriate control gear and technical equipment and was the technical support on site to resolve any issues that arose. It was my task to source appropriate lighting and control systems for each individual project depending on their requirements. This included LED, DALI control systems and determining the best dimming solutions to integrate fully with their existing systems.

Experience4D Designs: Proprietor July 07 – Dec 2011Setting up and running a creative business in producing sustainable interior and exterior products and lighting. I ran the entire business, from design to manufacture of my products, marketing and book keeping. I have exhibited at 100% Design 2008 Earls court, London and have had an international commission in Las Vegas, USA, for a bespoke lighting product in the ‘American Fish’ restaurant located in the Aria building, City Centre Las Vegas.

Da-Vinci College: Designer in residence Sept 09 – July 2010 2 days per weekFor the Art Design and Technology department, specializing in laser cutting and other CAD CAM processes. Teaching ages 12-16. Taught classes, ran after school projects and helped students develop their work.
