The business consists of an OEM and a catalog component.

Moved into a corporate role covering 10 optical sites within IDEX including Semrock, AT Films, CVI, and Melles Griot. Responsible for promoting IDEX Operating Model to sites in the US, Japan, Korea, China, and Europe. Various projects included : transferring a production work cell from the US to Suzhou, China, opening a local sales office in Shanghai, and generating $500K revenue in the first year; introduced factory daily management at all sites (including internationally in Korea, Japan, and in the UK) and focused on improving On Time Delivery at all sites. Also ran various rapid improvement events and training at all sites to improve overall efficiency and profitability.

Held various roles at this start-up company before and after it was eventually acquired by IDEX Corporation in October of 2008. Roles included Director of Logistics/Supply Chain, Director of Manufacturing Engineering and Optical Coatings, and Director of Operations. Started with the business when it was <30 people and saw it grow to >130. Used principles in lean six-sigma, value stream mapping, capacity modeling, and team building to help the company achieve consistent quarter over quarter growth from 2005 through 2009.

Engineering management position originally for a start-up company focused on the areas of optical design and manufacturing services. Start-up was acquired and role in larger corporation involved leading the global engineering teams on common processes for design and manufacturing. Processes were transitioned to Asian manufacturing team in Suzhou, China as well as to operations teams in Herrenberg, Germany and Penang, Malaysia. Job also included responsibilities in the areas of optical component engineering (specification, qualification, and failure analysis) in support of all Solectron sites. Department included optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, component, process, and test engineering as well as project management functions. Team included members in the US, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, and China (max 60 people). Duties also included support of Sales, M&A, and business development teams.

Principal Lightwave Systems Engineer for the design and productization of the second generation CoreStream 10Gigabit DWDM product line. Responsibilities included design of the architecture for both the Transport and the Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop sub-systems, generation of module and software specifications, and performance of all integration testing. Included work in the areas of FEC and Polarization Mode Dispersion Compensation. Coordinated efforts and set milestones of hardware (electrical/mechanical/layout), software (embedded/system), systems lightwave/communication), component, reliability, and operations teams.
