Functional manager responsible for a microelectronics (i.e. hybrids) mechanical manufacturing lab comprising two shifts of 25+ employees who perform a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, fabrication, tooling, qualification, evaluation, testing, and sell-off of electronics payload piece parts (i.e. machined housings) for spacecraft module assembly and test. Responsibilities also include the leadership of spacecraft structural and payload mechanical manufacturing work cells: electrical discharge machining (EDM), electroformed antenna products, and silk screen masking of solder-on covers for macroelectronics package closeout.Core competencies include producibility review and interpretation of detailed drawings, tool design and manufacturing, material handling and kitting, shelf-life control and recertification, 3- and 4-axis machining of a variety of microelectronic substrates, precision cleaning, deburring, surface preparation, electronic feedthrough glassing, plating bakeout, and housing feedthrough soldering.Primary functional responsibilities include generating staffing plans based on program headcount projections (i.e. shop load assessments), collaborating with Talent Acquisition to interview and hire candidates, facilitating performance management goal planning, conducting employee performance and compensation reviews, promoting leadership training opportunities, enhancing team engagement via annual employee engagement survey participation and action planning, and ensuring personnel and hardware safety. Also responsible for participating in Environmental, Safety, Health and Medical (ESHM) accident assessments as required, maintaining employee skills matrices and legacy knowledge-sharing development plans, identification of mentor / protégé relationships, forecasting of consumables and indirect expenses, and executing capital planning and asset risk mitigation exercises.
