Career Transition education

Responsible for estimates of aluminum heaters, evaporators in Lockport, NY and Juarez, MX, HVAC systems in NY, Vandalia, OH and Mexico and HMX in Juarez. Both led & supported cost reduction teams. Compiled and reported data from financail counterparts in France, Poland, India and China. Involved in numerous special projects.Some major accomplishments included:Led a $45 million portion of company reorganization activities; completed full legal separation of the final assembly plant from the design responsibility and heat exchanger build company for automotive HVAC. Reviewed and suggested revisions to the over $400 million heat exchanger material budget. Suggestions resulted in revisions to SAP process for budgeting yielding significant continuous improvement compounded over several years.During SAP implementation led team to preserve engineering blank layout information on every product that was retained only in legacy costing and engineering systems. SAP did not retain the details for calculation. Legacy system shutdown saved over $400,000 and no data was lost because of the Excel file conversions. Completed between 100 to 200 new product and existing product change estimates each year. Determined interplant pricing for components shared and shipped. Applied appropriate rules and guidelines for both North American and overseas facilities. Team member and estimator for new product (HMX) with potential for low cost, energy efficient cooling in large buildings and suggested several early phase cost improvements. Lead estimator for SAP implementation. Trained in three finance modules; along with corporate trainer prepared a needs specific training for the other cost estimators.

Completed estimates for both new business and cost improvement of existing product. Supervised twelve students over years in this position. Estimated products included condensers, aluminum heaters, evaporators and HVAC systems. Completed special projects to help make manufacturing more efficient or develop new products in conjunction with product engineering. Developed capacity planning charts on key products.

Short term (8-month) assignment working for the Plant Manager on various special projects as assigned.

Participated with and coordinated the first team (5 members) trained in the concepts of Activity Based Cost for this company site. Other company site implementations were small and manually administrated. The objective for the team was to increase scale and computerize the process for considerably larger facilities.

Provided the first written plan for the Heat Exchanger business unit of the company for review by senior management and became the strategic planner for this $600 million portion of the business ( included radiators, heaters and heater cores, evaporators, condensers and oil coolers).

Various engineering positions including: Industrial Enginnering (lean, Plant layout & CAD); Manufacturing Engineering; Reliability and Quality Engineering (including statistical analysis of warranty occurances and costs).
