I lead the research reagent protein purification subgroup. My group is responsible for purification and characterization of high quality recombinant proteins which are used as research reagents and in the development of novel technology. We utilize a variety of biochemical techniques and chromatographic processes to enrich tagged and tag free protein preparations derived from conditioned media and cell pellets. These media and cells are derived from all commonly used expression systems including samples produced in bacteria, insect, human, and CHO systems. As a Scientist in the Protein Sciences group I was responsible for isolating and characterizing proteins from a wide variety of recombinant and tissue-derived sources. This role contributes to many neurodegenerative campaigns from target discovery and evaluation through development and manufacturing support by providing technical and conceptual biochemistry and biophysical expertise.• Develop purification and enrichment strategies to isolate proteins and antibodies from natural and recombinant sources• Provide material support and technical/conceptual expertise in the development of seeding models in-vitro and in-vivo across several programs• Provide conceptual input and technical biochemistry expertise to study protein aggregation and misfolding and characterize biochemical/biophysical properties of isolated proteins and protein aggregates• Contribute to supervision and mentorship of lab members within the Protein Sciences group• Interface with multiple discovery projects and matrix teams across the organization to identify and help evaluate potential new discovery targets• Identify and manage CROs to complement in house capabilities

My research involved studying the aggregation behavior of Tau proteins into filaments found inAlzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. I was responsible for designing and implementing a variety of experimental types and schemes.
