A professional software-developer since 2003; an amateur one long before that. My specialty is web. I have been a key member of the development team on high-profile and high-traffic public-facing applications. I have performed technical team-lead roles, and am comfortable working at any level, from macro, architecting solutions, down to micro, trawling stack-traces.I have delivered for clients with stringent requirements for reliability (e.g. internet-banking), performance (e.g. Roames, uSwitch), and security (e.g. Australian Tax Office portals). Professionally, I’ve primarily worked in Microsoft .NET environments. I consider myself an expert in C#, proficient in JavaScript and C++, and know just enough to be dangerous in a handful of other languages (Java, F#, VB, etc). Every project I have been part of has involved a relational database, many of which I contributed to the data-model design. I am skilled with SQL and the associated tools. Recently I have been working with RavenDB.I am passionate about process. Generally, I believe the process is far more important than the tools. I will advocate for automated-tests, continuous-integration, and iterative development.I believe in the need to continually learn. I have a Bachelors Degree in software-engineering from QUT, and am gradually (some would say glacially) completing my Masters of computer-science at UQ. I write code for fun, and more importantly I read code.
