CurrentServe as project leader providing music making workshops for incarcerated youth at Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center and Illinois Youth Center Chicago and Warrenville on behalf of the Negaunee Institute. Lead week-long intensive song-writing workshops with CSO musicians and project leaders from The Irene Taylor Trust Music in Prisons.Serve as Teaching Artist for the Music Activity Partnership program, which offers in-class music instruction and teacher professional development for fourth through sixth grade classrooms in Chicago Public Schools. Responsibilities include:1. Develop, implement, and document curriculum that follows the established MAP goals and connects with the Chicago Public Schools Chicago Guide for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and Common Core State Standards, introducing teachers and students to the world of music and drawing relevant connections to classical music.2. Communicate proactively with CPS teachers to schedule and prepare for classroom visits.3. Develop and lead activities that guide classroom teachers to develop greater understanding of musical concepts, repertoire andteaching strategies for incorporating music into a variety of curricula.4. Participate in planning meetings with CSOA staff, other teaching artists, and consultants.5. Advocate for the benefits of music education and a life-long personal relationship with music.6. Serve as a positive and enthusiastic representative of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association to various constituencies,including patrons, musicians, educators, donors, and others.
