“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” – Sharon BegleyI am a curious, reliable and adaptable communicator, currently writing quizzes of all sorts, alongside working as a bookseller for an independent bookshop, and maintaining a book review blog which has been continuously active since 2013. Freelance writing has allowed me to delve deeper into other subjects, so I can keep learning and quenching my thirst for facts. I am looking for a job that will allow me to make more of my passions for educating, entertaining and informing, like a human BBC charter.I am known for my love of trivia and for writing quizzes that allow everyone to shine, with questions ranging from Mozart to the Mr Men, obscure subjects and general knowledge. As quizmaster, I remain resolutely determined that nothing is ever boring and no one should ever be shamed or embarrassed for a wrong answer. My quizzes are often tailored to individual interests, and I use multiple formats to keep things fresh.Due to my large personal store of trivia and talent for retaining information, I’m always on hand to add an extra fact here or there to proceedings. Due to my ongoing Zoom quizzes, I have built up a community from like-minded strangers which I’ve found a very fulfilling activity. I have also written quizzes for “in-person” situations, as well as peppering them across websites such as Sporcle, PuzzGrid and Buzzfeed. In 2020, I set out to make even more of this and published a quiz book, Questioning Your Sanity (my first non-fiction book). in 2021, I set up a website, also called Questioning Your Sanity, which provides companies and individuals with bespoke quizzes to suit their needs.Outside of work, I am a voracious reader – both fiction and non-fiction – with an appetite for knowledge and a “Did you know…” on hand for every occasion. If not reading, I can often be found swimming lengths, listening to podcasts, applauding in the theatre, or being pretentious about fine German wine.Work I am proud of:• Written and hosted over 80 Zoom quizzes with a broad range of questions, topics, levels and styles• Written questions for BBC quiz show The Tournament• Creating quizzes for Sporcle that have attracted over 40,000 plays• Quizzed a wide variety of trivia lovers, including winners of popular game shows like Only Connect, Pointless, Mastermind, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?• Produced over 100 articles for The Spirits Business, several of which were highly regarded and widely shared among people in the industry
