About Mike Mathias Ncps, Crs

I am dedicated to raising the minimal acceptable standard of living in our society high enough to keep people from dying in the streets.I am the Executive Director of Anything Helps, a non-profit organization that provides on-site housing-oriented support to people living in homeless encampments. As a Nationally Certified Peer Specialist and a County Certified Community Resource Specialist, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my role. I also bring years of experience in project management, program development, strategic planning, and research in the field of homelessness and behavioral health to my work.My passion for this cause stems from my personal journey through homelessness, addiction, and mental illness, which has given me unique insights into the challenges and needs of those we serve. I have initiated and led numerous collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders across the country aimed at improving how vulnerable populations are perceived, served, and empowered. I regularly and openly share my story, opinion and expertise through publications, presentations, and advocacy efforts to foster greater understanding and to catalyze change.

    -Contracted with Seattle Public Schools to provide on-site support and housing solutions to over 60 individuals living in an unsanctioned homeless encampment behind Broadview-Thomson K-8.-Formulated collaborative partnerships with DSHS, Housing Connector, Peoples Harm Reduction, ETS REACH, The Interfaith Community, King County Library System, LEAD, The Ballard Food Bank, JUSTCares, and the DOL to coordinate care and ensure that the health and basic needs of clients were being met.-Coordinated housing referrals directly to the HOPE Team, while serving as the sites outreach team.-Empowered unofficial camp leaders by delegating leadership tasks and including them in organizational decision-making. -Worked with King County, LIHI and DESC to successfully secure non-congregate housing resources for all members of the Bitter Lake encampment.- Successfully negotiated for the security of 14 emergency housing vouchers from the KCRHA for clients residing in LIHI tiny home villages.- Mediated conversations between members of organizations to promote the support of the Woodland Park homeless encampment.- Worked in partnership with King County Public Health to provide outreach and distribute vital resources to various encampments throughout King County.
