Hands-on technically astute leader/executor with well-rounded experience across the multiple industries. Track record of successes providing critical analysis, strategy, and thought-provoking concepts to C-level executives. Focused on emerging and disruptive technologies and business models that use AI/ML to drive ROI.I've been working with data in quantitative and qualitative natures for almost 20 years now. Much of that time was spent building stories around data to communicate and influence multiple stakeholders (up to C-Level and Board) around suggested solutions. Rarely was this accomplished alone. Building a team across multiple parts of an organization as well as socializing the solutions was the norm for ensuring buy-in, integrating collaborative ideas from above and below, and finding the right executive champion(s) for a successful program.Topics I have touched in the past: Partnership Management, AI Ecosystem Development, Sales Enablement, Product/Solution Design, Emerging Technology Strategy, Smart City, IoT, AV/EV infrastructure, AR/VR, Digital Twins, Cognitive Twins, Blockchain & Crypto, Energy (Power, Gas, Oil) Trading Algorithms, AI/ML, Energy storage optimization and sizing, Smart Meter analytics, Wind Site Performance, Electricity Price/Capacity Forecasting/Analytics.

Project Director, Head Of Market AnalyticsPeregrine Energy Solutions, Llc Dec 2023 - PresentBoulder, Colorado, UsMarket Analytics performs many functions here at Peregrine. Primarily, the forecast function of delivering forecasted revenue results on all pipeline, M&A, and green field opportunities. We also keep up on regulatory changes and market dynamics across all of the markets that Peregrine is in or thinking of entering. Ad Hoc analytics involving markets, market functions, off take agreements, structured deals, swaps, hedges, etc.. are one of the more interesting sides of the work as we get to use out ML/AI/simulation skill sets to solve very real problems. Some of the above can be done in XL. A lot of it has to be done with a variety of programming. For the most part, the tech stack we use is Python based with some very large scale analytics being run in Snowflake. Our forecasting pipeline is all automated in Python with results being formatted and distributed to our internal customers automatically. If we have to do the task at hand more than once we look to automate it and add a self service endpoint such that our customers can find the latest as they need it and avoid the delay in asking for something and waiting for our reply. Elimination of this delay is a driver of performance not just in Market Analytics, but in our internal customers as well. -
Sr. Business Development Manager, Global Lead For Finance And Banking, Energy, And AiDell Emc Nov 2021 - Aug 2023Round Rock, Texas, UsAs the Global Lead of Business Development for AI and then Energy and Financial Services I had three primary missions: product solutioning and evangelism, ecosystem growth and partner management, and customer sales and support. Product solutions required input from multiple stakeholders and 3rd party SW/HW partners as well as influencing across the cross-functional teams to drive good outcomes. Working on the AI Starter Kit, Dell’s lead in for AI workloads with Nvidia, is an example of a delivered full-stack solution. While there, I grew the ecosystem 2x as well as established a multi-level partner program with a roadmap for partnerships to grow from inception to being referred into commercial and OEM programs. For example, I brought in KX, Vertica, and NoteWorthy.ai at different levels according to business generation and ran GTM events with each. Sales support and lead generation on site and virtual with clients or thought leadership at industry conferences allowed me to interact and gain deeper insights for customer pain points to turn into solutions. I managed Dell’s relationship with STAC, the premier financial services bench-marking organization, sponsoring 6 conferences a year and speaking on hot topics. Select highlights:• SME Covering $340MM of Sales and $800MM of Pipeline in the last year• Met 127% of plan in the 1st year• STAC Summits: Platinum sponsor and speaker: OBJ at the speed of light!, Can object Stores Lift Your Data• Quant Strats NYC: Platinum sponsor and speaker: Managing Data Design and Infrastructure for Portfolio Management and Optimization• AI Starter Kit for Predictive Maintenance -
Technology And Commercialization Manager, Nextera Energy InvestmentsNextera Energy, Inc. Jun 2021 - Nov 2021Juno Beach, Fl, UsIt was a very exciting time to be in a startup VC group with $2B of revolving capital to use ($300 deployed at the time). The capital was delegated into 3 funds: Venture, Social, and Strategic. My primary focus was Venture investing with forays into Social and Strategic as warranted. Building deal flow through partnerships with VCs, incubators, and accelerators was key to ensuring a good volume of investment opportunity.Evaluating investment opportunities on their strategic, financial, technological, and team merits was daily work. Building internal relationships and connecting business units with portfolio companies to build value internally and externally was my goal. The ideal investment was a budding technology startup with good prospects whose product was also of interest to the business units of NextEra proper, though this was not required for investment. -
Principal Data Scientist, Digital Innovation TeamNextera Energy, Inc. May 2018 - Jun 2021Juno Beach, Fl, UsOne of the most interesting positions I have had in my career was working on the Digital Innovation Team. The team was new and was tasked with driving innovative change throughout the company. Typically this started with answering the following questions from Sr./C-Level leadership:• How will this technology change/enhance/disintermediate NextEra's businesses?• How can we defend against negative impacts and minimize risks?• What is the expected timeline for the technology to mature?• Should we, can we, how can we execute using this technology and what is the roadmap? Answering these questions required research and development of new and cutting-edge technologies for corporate strategy, viewpoints, and proofs of concept. Keeping abridge of emerging trends required a tracking and communication methodology that made sense. I was integral to forming and maintaining the 1st Technology Radar, a visual representation of emerging technologies and how close they were to commercialization as well as their expected impacts on NextEra through and impact web. The Innovation Team hosted a quarterly corporate Disruption and Innovation summit focused on futurism, transformation, and disruption for senior leadership. I led and was a key speaker at this summit where I was able to share thought leadership around emerging trends and technologies.Select highlights:• Executed PoC demonstrations using emerging technology: Digital street lighting control and optimization, robotic EV charging stations, Public wifi/5G at the pole, AR/VR with MS Hololens (Unity)• Designed, built, and tested NextEra’s 1st two custom payloads for Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot: Steam leak detection and Fire Watch object detection; integral to deploying Spot in nuclear and fossil plants for autonomous/tele-operated inspection missions (Python)• Executed 3 patents touching on solar PV, distribution grid, and cyber security -
Sr. Quantitative Analyst, Trade GroupWindlogics Is Now Nextera Analytics Jul 2013 - May 2018St Paul, Minnesota, UsBuilding on my successes as a Market Analyst, I moved to work more closely with the energy trading floor. I was responsible for design and implementation of algorithmic trading strategies across multiple ISOs to support various trade desks (RT/DA, Prop, Transmission, NG/OIL/NGLs). Moving the group's technology from local server implementations to AWS centric computations was also part of the responsibilities. Ad-hoc analytical project work in the areas of structured power deals, wind power forecasting, solar power forecast error exposure, DA-RT Spreads, turbine performance, wind site operational metrics, energy trading/hedging, and risk analytics exposed me to a variety of opportunities. One of these ad-hoc projects was building out the requirements for the 1st implementation of MAUI, the Meter Analytics User Interface, for FPL’s 6 million smart meters. I was also tasked with investigating blockchain applications in the energy industry, their uses and potential disruptions and led the working group formulating the corporate strategy around blockchain technologies.Select highlights:• Built the 1st real-time battery dispatch algorithm; Bid storage into the PJM market (Java)• Real-time Power desk: MISO and PJM interface strategy: +$700k 1st 6 months (R)• Proprietary Power Desk: 4 legged temporal and geographical hedge strategies: +$150k 1st trade (R)• Power Scheduling Optimization: +$600k over 2 year contract (Java)• 1st Stage real-time analytics cluster (Hadoop + MongoDB) for 6M+ smart meters pulling data hourly -
Sr. Fundamental Market AnalystNextera Energy Resources Mar 2008 - Jul 2013Juno Beach, Fl, UsThis position required fundamental market analysis and forecasting (electricity price, heat rates, capacity, etc.) for all capital projects (wind, solar, fossil, other), M&A targets, and generation contracting in the WECC & ERCOT. Modeling and simulation was completed utilizing linear optimization, deterministic, and Monte Carlo models. The modelling was a combination of commercial SW and several in-house built apps. In addition to running models, my responsibility was to automate the process from start to finish. When I joined, it took 4-7 days to build a forecast. After I was through automating and improving the process, it was under 2 days with most of that time being compute time rather than human time. In addition, I added in multiple metrics and data quality checks that greatly improved model confidence. I was also involved in special research of different modeling techniques, software, and strategies for improving NextEra's ability to see the future. This required investigating and reporting on new and existing renewable power generation technologies to support Market Intelligence, Strategy, and Development groups.Select highlights:• Custom SW development for innovative data analysis & optimization of modelling pumped storage, storage market penetration, PJM storage market deep dive (Java)• Ported homegrown modeling SW to HPC cluster using MPI and CUDA improving performance 45x (Python and C) -
