Actuarial Development Intern
• Worked in the iptiQ Actuarial Evaluation Team under the guidance of Senior VP/Chief Actuary and Senior Actuary on annual experience study for lapse rates and Medicare Supplement termination rates involving several projects: lapse study results, Medicare Supplement results, sample validation of expected lapse rates, updating expected lapse rates, and pivot table validation of expected lapse rates• Validated assumption changes using Excel models where the results contribute to pricing and fees for insurance policies• Performed expected lapse rates updates for the best estimate assumptions based on prior year assumption changes• Reviewed and modified R code calculations for the comparisons of actual lapse rates to expected lapse rates • Performed data cleaning in R for life and health policies’ exposure calculations• Created validation report in Excel by comparing expected lapse rates from R output to expected lapse rates calculated by formula from the best estimate assumptions• Populated final result tables for the Lapse study involving a comparison of actual and expected lapse rates• Collaborated with three Swiss Re interns in other fields from New York and Chicago to brainstorm and propose an insurance product involving A.I. to Swiss Re Solutions• Presented internship deliverables and lessons learned to the New York pricing team, management, and HR in a 15-minute presentation
