I was fortunate to be exposed to sales at a young age, that kicked off my entrepreneurial journey. Before BarrierTek, I imported sporting goods to liniments, started a security company (which failed), and worked for small start-ups. I also had the opportunity to work for two Fortune 500 companies in sales and leadership roles. My progress was evident as I helped grow accounts and businesses earning awards for my performance.These early experiences taught me the joys (and the harsh realities) of owning and building a business. It also helped me craft my personal management and sales styles. As the CEO of BarrierTek, I am fortunate to have a strong team that works alongside me towards the collective goal of a World Without Catastrophic Fire.The appeal of both sales and business for me is setting a goal and achieving it. I believe success in business is found in four factors. These are:1. having a solid team working towards a common goal2. strong, mutually-beneficial, lasting relationships3. hearing and accepting feedback4. seeing challenges as opportunities.Today, I specialize in the construction industry, specifically in fire protection for residential and commercial wood construction projects. I work directly with builders, code officials, engineers, architects, and fire prevention officers to develop cost-effective methods to protect wood construction projects.When I am away from work, I also like to be away from the city. In the summer months, I bike, fish and camp. To me, there is nothing better than a fire with friends and family, and a starry sky as your ceiling. In the winter months, I head to the mountains to sled or snowboard. When I am stuck in the city, I still enjoy many of my childhood joys hockey and biking (summer and winter).
