I'm a Senior Software Engineer, working on Cloud Trace Backend as a tech lead / individual contributor. Cloud Trace is a distributed tracing service that Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services as well as Google Cloud customers can use to understand the performance and end-to-end interactions of their microservice apps.Prior to this, I've worked on a number of things, including: - The Google Web Server (GWS), a part of Search Infrastructure (backend engineering) - The Knowledge Graph, a part of Search Features (frontend and backend engineering) - The Stackdriver Monitoring API, a part of Google Cloud (backend engineering) - AlertManager, an internal infrastructure that backs alerting capabilities in Cloud MonitoringMy work at Google has spanned a number of languages, including C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. I have also worked with some Google-specific domain languages (such as for configuration). The team's current work is predominantly in C++, the implementation language of the Cloud Trace backend.

• Reviewed log4as, as3commons-logging, and a variety of other ActionScript 3.0 logging frameworks, and implemented a custom log4j-based logging mechanism when the loggers were found to be unsuitable for our needs (license problems with log4as; the other logging mechanisms do not allow the logging level of the individual loggers to be finely adjusted or for custom appenders to be added).• Architected and implemented a persistence framework on top of SharedObject, allowing for game data to be automatically saved in response to property change events. Replaced our old XML-based persistence mechanism with the new persistence mechanism, resulting in a perceivable speedup.• Documented the code base with asdoc, created a FAQ for our code base, trained new recruits in the use of our framework code, and gave feedback and reviewed code written by our new hires.
