Currently he is Chair of the Pan American Federation of Engineering Organizations - UPADI Sustainability Committee with 20 national member societies from Canada, the US, Mexico, Central America, South American, the Caribbean and Spain. One of his most notable accomplishments was his work on establishing the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure – ISI and development of the Envision Rating System with over 7,000 credentialed professionals and verified 125 infrastructure projects worth over $106 billion. Mike was instrumental in the establishment of a sustainable infrastructure standard, the development of ASCE’s Sustainable Infrastructure Certificate Program, the creation of a series of successful International Conferences on Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI), and the formation of the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure. Mike has numerous additional accomplishments to his credit including ASCE’s ‘zero tolerance’ provision in Code of Ethics and its Anti-Corruption Policy and the management of the Global Anti-Corruption Education and Training (ACET) Program. An engineer with diverse expertise at the local, national, and global levels in sustainable development, climate change and resilience he currently serves as an author on the US National Climate Assessment - NCA5.
