• South Bay Substation Relocation Project, Chula Vista, CA January to April 2015Performed environmental inspection and documentation for the 12-acre Bay Boulevard Substation. Documented construction activities, environmental and biological mitigation, archaeological and paleontological mitigation, storm water mitigation, hazardous materials mitigation, and waste management mitigation. Conducted nesting bird surveys and monitoring during the bird nesting season. • East County Substation Project, Jacumba and Boulevard, CA May 2013 – December 2014Performed environmental inspection and documentation for the 14-mile long East County Substation Project. Monitored the construction of a 90-acre substation, a 10-acre substation, two underground transmission lines totaling over 14 linear miles, and 7 linear miles of overhead transmission lines. Documented construction activities, environmental and biological mitigation, archaeological and paleontological mitigation, storm water mitigation, hazardous materials mitigation, waste management mitigation, and restoration monitoring. Conducted nesting bird surveys during bird nesting season.

Desert Center, Ca

Performed compliance monitoring and documentation of the 4,410 acre solar farm on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Communicated with representatives of the construction crew as well as the biological, cultural, paleontological, dust, and tribal monitors to report compliance of project mitigation measures. Evaluated daily activities of crews as they pertained to the project guidelines and mitigation measures. Submitted daily compliance reports to the BLM. Attended daily meetings with all parties to discuss daily activities and daily project issues.

Cadiz, Ca

Performed monitoring and documentation of construction activites along a 75 mile natural gas pipeline around desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) habitat. Conducted surveys for desert tortoise and tortoise sign. Assisted construction crews to remain in compliance with the project’s mitigation measures. Wrote daily reports submitted to the Southern California Gas Company.

Greater San Diego Area

• San Diego Gas & Electric Sunrise Powerlink Project, San Diego County, CA October 2010 – July 2011Performed monitoring and documentation of construction activites around environmentally sensitive areas throughout San Diego County for the high profiled Sunrise Powerlink Project. Conducted nesting surveys, habitat assessments, and assisted the crews to remain in compliance with the project’s mitigation measures. Wrote daily reports submitted to the California Public Utilities Commission.• San Diego Gas & Electric Wood-to-Steel Pole Replacement Project, San Diego County, CAPerformed inspection and documentation of construction activities around environmentally sensitive areas throughout San Diego County. Monitored the process from converting existing wood power line poles to steel power line poles around NCCP habitat, as well as non-sensitive areas. Environmentally trained all crews and new laborers prior to any work. Consulted with crews about minimizing impacts and instructed them to apply mitigation methods whenever possible. Frequently communicated with the construction administrators, foremen, inspectors, and laborers on a daily basis. Assessed areas around the poles for nesting birds, ground dwelling mammals, and rare vegetation prior to any work. Responsible for writing up post-construction reports for the temporary and permanent impacts.

• Freeport Regional Water Authority Pipeline Project, Sacramento County, CABiological monitor for the Freeport Pipeline Project. Monitored the 18-mile pipeline stretching from the Sacramento River to the South Folsom Canal for construction activities, special-status species, trees, and the contractor's compliance with their permits. Frequently had to refer to permit regulations, arborist reports, and wetland delineation maps to determine contractor’s compliance (5 different contractors). Communicated frequently with the contractors, inspectors, and laborers on a daily basis. Documented daily inspections onto environmental compliance forms submitted to the project manager. Periodically submitted evaluations of the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for each project site to the contractors. Guided the construction workers to restore the proper contours of wetlands during the restoration phase of the project. Had the authority to shut down the jobsite if any construction activity jeopardized the presence of wildlife, trees, and wetlands (including vernal pools).• Caltrans Interstate 80 High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Project, Fairfield, CAMonitored construction activity and the contractor’s compliance with permit regulations at the intersection between I80 HOV with Ledgewood Creek and Green Valley Creek. Documented daily inspections onto environmental compliance forms submitted to the project manager. Environmentally trained all newly hired construction laborers prior to working on the project.

• US Army Corps of Engineers Emergency Levee Repair Project, Solano, Sutter, Sacramento, Yolo, and Glenn Counties, CACharacterized the biological diversity of 16 eroded levee sites along the Sacramento, American, and Feather rivers, and Steamboat and Cache sloughs. Conducted field surveys for the plants, wildlife, and elderberry shrubs on each site. GPSed and tagged trees on the sites and documented the presence of many special-status species. Responsible for writing up a significant portion of the site characterization report, submitted to the USACE in March 2008.
