I am of counsel in the Vorys Akron office and a member of the litigation practice group. I am a veteran trial attorney with more than 25 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor and defense attorney, and as a trial attorney in a broad range of civil litigation. While I continue to defend individuals in white collar criminal cases involving allegations of fraud, conspiracy, and embezzlement, I more frequently defend clients in civil matters. I have defended numerous clients in a variety of matters, including breach of contract, construction disputes, employment discrimination, intentional tort, personal injury and toxic tort. I also defend the interests of numerous clients involved in the exploration for, and development of, the region’s energy resources.Before joining Vorys, I was a Staff Judge Advocate and prosecutor for the United States Marine Corps. I also served as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the University of Virginia and a Marine Officer Instructor for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. In this position I initiated and taught a pilot curriculum in ethics and leadership later adopted by the U. S. Naval Academy and the Naval ROTC programs nationwide.
