I was responsible for recruiting, educating, and training high school and college students about the importance of bio ethics. Giving educational presentations at churches, clubs, and schools was a routine part of my job. I was also responsible for planning events and running bi weekly CA Life meetings. This job taught me many valuable skills including communication, public speaking, leadership, logistics and event planning, computer, and time management skills.While working as a Youth Outreach Coordinator I started, managed, and led a youth summer camp. This was a new program for the organization. I was responsible for coordinating the entire camp including finding a location for the camp, finding speakers for the camp, writing and developing the camp program and schedule, promoting the camp, and managing and running the camp. This entire project taught me many valuable skills including organization, logistics, prioritization, management, and leadership skills. However the biggest thing this project taught me was the importance of new ideas in an organization and how to promote them. When starting a new program it is essential for the leader of the project to really sell the idea and promote it not only to customers but also to coworkers and management. Another lesson I learned working at TKRL is the importance of customer relations. Being a non profit we did not exactly have “customers” but we did have people who we offered our services to. One of my responsibilities was to give educational presentations to churches, schools, and clubs in all of Tulare County. This required building working relationships with pastors, youth leaders, and teachers. I was able to successfully create and develop working relationships with several new pastors, and youth leaders in the community thus expanding the organization’s reach.

I was in charge of recruiting, training, managing, and motivating volunteers for Bob Schaffer's U.S. Senate bid. I worked primarily in the Fort Collins area in Colorado. This job greatly strengthened my interpersonal communications and human resource management skills. It also taught me team work as I worked and coordinated events with a variety of coworkers and different campaigns.Working on Bob Schaffer’s U.S. Senate campaign was a great experience. One of the great successes I had was creating a faithful pool of volunteers for the campaign. My main responsibility was to recruit and manager volunteers for the campaign. I was specifically brought onto the campaign to target college and high school students. The job was in Fort Collins, Colorado which I had never been to before. I started this job with no contacts, in a new state, and received very little direction. Results were expected almost immediately but very little direction was provided. I basically had to figure out the job on my own. The first few weeks were difficult but I was able to quickly develop a group of very faithful volunteers for the campaign. The volunteer base I recruited became the backbone of the grassroots campaign in the Fort Collins area.

Gained valuable hands on experience in the construction field. I did demolition, framing, dug footings, finish work, painting, etc... This job taught me carpentry skills and the importance of good operations management.
