As a human resources specialist in the U.S. army I preformed personnel and administrative functions in support of the unit I was assigned to. Some of my duties included; advising commanders, staff, and soldiers on HR matters, preparing personnel accounting and strength management reports, and preparing and processing award recommendations, promotion requests, reductions, transfers, special pay programs, meal cards, and leave requests, maintaining and updating army records on electronic personnel information systems as well as functional files. I also trained soldiers junior to me on how to process administrative actions and how to use the electronic personnel information systems.
