Responsible for the economic sustainability and operational efficiency and effectiveness of UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, including annual operating and research budgets in excess of $500M. As a key member of the Dean's Executive, provides critical strategic, financial and organizational leadership and support to the Faculty. Major responsibilities include:• Providing leadership in the development and implementation of resource allocation plans, strategic business and operational plans, new initiatives, and policies, procedures and processes across the Faculty that reflect the strategic plan and mission of the Faculty• Allocating the $370M operating budget, ensuring the overall effective stewardship of the financial resources of the Faculty and alignment of those resources with the academic mission, including chairing the Faculty’s Budget Committee• Working with government agencies to ensure funding requirements are met and ensure systems are developed to support reporting requirements and accounting structure needs • Providing leadership, direction and oversight of key administrative policies and procedures • In collaboration with the Chief Information Officer, setting overall strategic direction and providing coordinated leadership in the development, implementation, and management of information systems and educational technology• Providing overall leadership and guidance in the development and utilization of physical space to enable effective research, education, and administration• Cultivating and fostering strategic relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Faculty, UBC, partner universities, provincial health authorities and provincial government • Leading, coaching and mentoring large and geographically diverse finance, IT and facilities management teams

Okanagan Campus

Responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of finance and operations with university-wide strategic influence. Engages in strategic planning and shares accountability for the overall achievement of the University’s goals, translating the University’s plan into broad divisional strategies. As a key member of UBC Okanagan’s executive team, provides leadership in capital and financial planning, financial operations, campus planning and infrastructure development, supply chain and procurement services, facilities management, operational sustainability, risk management, and information technology. Key responsibilities:• Participating as an active member of the Principal’s executive team to establish, implement and successfully achieve institutional vision and goals • Collaborating with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Principal and members of the executive to ensure the business and operations of the campus are aligned with the University’s mission and that priorities are identified within the strategic plan• Leading the development and delivery of financial functions and services, including accounting, asset and debt management, operating and capital budgeting, supply management and risk management• Acting as the University’s financial and operations lead, including working directly with the Board of Governors and the municipal and provincial governments• Chairing the campus’ Budget Committee• Stewarding the development of the campus’ short- and long-range land use planning, capital development and space utilization• Working with the senior leadership team, administers risk identification and management processes, proactively assesses campus and university-wide risks in the financial, operational and administrative processes, policies and procedures• Building a strong team of business leaders committed to fulfilling the vision, goals and priorities of management portfolio and UBC

Responsible for managing the University's borrowing facility (currently $300M) and internal lending portfolio, borrowing funds from capital markets, maintaining investor and credit rating agency relations. Also responsible for the development and management of financing/debt strategies for capital projects, overseeing the University's $50M liquidity portfolio, non-research contracts and leases and the Employee Housing Assistance program.

Full P&L and operations responsibility for Best Buy Canada and Future Shop's financial services program, including a $750 million private label credit card and $220 million gift card portfolio.

Full P&L responsibility for Best Buy Canada and Future Shop's $280 million extended warranty program and 600,000 account private label credit card portfolio.

Full P&L responsibility for Best Buy Canada and Future Shop's extended warranty program including the delivery of sales and profitability goals and establishment of budget targets.

Developed, modified and executed sales plans for the extended warranty and in-store computer repair programs.
