Summit Private Investments, Inc. is a medium sized investment management firm which manages various hedge fund-of-funds partnerships as well as the capital of its owners. As CFO, I have oversight of the accounting, finance and operations of the firm. As a hands-on firm leader, I manage a small accounting staff internally as well as maintain relationships with funds' auditor, administrator, bank, custodian and tax preparer. The corporate accounting includes employee benefit plans, payroll, 401(k), pension and FSA plans. I have contact with investors as it pertains to tax, accounting, planning and operations questions on a regular basis. In addition to roles as firm CFO and CCO, I assist in managing owners' private investment vehicles consisting of hedge funds, private equity and managed accounts as part of my family office responsibilities. I instituted a monthly reporting package and prepare year end tax filings. I also arrange capital calls and subscription documents for private alternative funds.I have implemented a transition of accounting systems from an Excel based system to that of a web-based platform utilizing mostly paperless office techniques. Monthly accounting and operations are kept in this web based system and overseen as part of the monthly close with outside administrator. Annual audit and tax compliance also utilize this system as a way to support outside service providers.The firm is a Registered Investment Advisor and subject to various SEC private fund reporting. I also serve as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer in charge of the outside compliance provider as well as lead fund counsel. I am also in charge of the Operational Due Diligence of the firm. This comprises two main functions, initial due diligence of potential investment as well an annual ongoing monitoring.
