In 2012, The New York Times "Year of the MOOC", Vanderbilt undertook to create a presence in online learning, and I was asked to be project manager for the implementation. Over the next few months, I produced VU's first five MOOCs and offered them on Coursera. In October, 2013, the Vanderbilt Institute for Digital Learning was established, and I was named assistant director for production. We continued to produce MOOCs, but also expanded to include production of all kinds of digital learning objects. In addition, we built a database with clickstream data from all of our MOOCs for faculty research and data mining, initiated a lending library of video and audio equipment, and created a self-serve video studio where anyone from the VU community could make high-quality videos without need for any videography experience and requiring no editing after the recording session. In June, 2019, VIDL was dissolved in a budget reorganization which discontinued many centralized university services in favor of distributed services among the individual units and schools.

The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons is the first stage of Vanderbilt's transformation into a residential college system. In 2008, all 1600 VU first-year students moved into the ten houses of The Commons with faculty and their families in residence. I was the project manager charged with implementing and supporting the digital commons, a virtual community to complement the physical commons community. I served as IT advisor to the Dean of the Commons, and oversaw Commons communications, including Common Place (the online hub of The Commons), social media, websites, listservs, and an intranet. I also managed IT for the Dean's office, the Commons Center, the Dean's residence, and the 10 houses, including 12 classrooms.

When ITS reorganized in accordance with the structures outlined by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), I became a founding member of the Service Delivery and Project Manager team. As such, I managed enterprise-wide cross-organizational projects, supervised project teams, managed customer relations and business Intelligence, coordinated customer interfaces to ITS services, and analyzed and redesigned business processes to align with the University's mission and customers' needs.
