The implementation of SAP core banking systems for ATB Financial was a four year undertaking that affected then current data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. The replacement of the majority of primary data sources used the by ATB’s enterprise data warehouse required a project to address continuity and expansion of BI capabilities.The project objectives consisted of the sustainment of over 10 million dollars of business value of current business intelligence capability and the development and deployment of data warehousing and BI capabilities that aligned with new SAP systems.Reporting to the Managing Director of Corporate BI, Michael’s role was to develop the business case, develop the overall plans and manage the project. The role required strong communication with many key business stakeholders and alignment with the CORE banking program. The project organization structure included four key sub-teams with project leads that reported directly to Michael.

XCURA was contracted as a lead vendor to supply both data warehousing/business intelligence knowledge and expertise, and to design and develop the core data warehousing infrastructure, Labour Market Information application and Information Portal application.Labour Market Information was a business intelligence solution involving the provisioning of a wide variety of external data sources (i.e. Stats Canada, HRDC, etc.) and formulating complex reports and multi-dimensional cube information products. The Information Portal was web-based portal into all information across AHRE. This solution posed the challenges of seamlessly integrating a wide variety of business intelligence technologies (e.g. Cognos, MapInfo, SAS & Excel). This project was completed in partnership with PortalSphere® Technologies Inc. in Ottawa.Michael’s role was to manage the customer relationship, ensure the quality of all deliverables against best data warehousing practices and to provide management leadership and guidance to project managers.
